LANGSTON HUGHES HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL
The Langston Hughes High School Boys Basketball program represents the heart of South Fulton pride, where winning is the standard and dominance is the expectation. In less than 20 years of the school’s existence, the Panthers have built one of the most successful and respected programs in the state.
From the very beginning, our program has set itself apart through a relentless commitment to excellence, discipline, and toughness. That commitment has produced championship results, including two State Championships, multiple Final Four appearances, and numerous Elite Eight finishes. Few programs can match the level of success the Panthers have achieved in such a short time.
In just two seasons under future Hall of Fame coach Elliott Montgomery, the program has once again elevated to an elite level. The Panthers have captured back-to-back Region Championships, energized the South Fulton community with record-setting attendance, and added a Final Four and Elite Eight appearance during that span. During his time at Langston Hughes, Coach Montgomery also reached a major career milestone, earning his 300th win as a head coach. The standard continues to rise, and the expectation remains the same.

Our impact reaches far beyond high school basketball. Panther athletes have earned opportunities to compete at the collegiate level at programs such as Virginia Tech, Memphis, LSU, Cincinnati, Auburn, and Lander University, among others. A couple have gone on to reach the NBA, further cementing the legacy of excellence that defines Langston Hughes basketball.
We take great pride in representing South Fulton every time we step on the court. The tradition is strong, the culture is unmatched, and the mission is clear.
The future is bright for the Panthers, and championships are the expectation in the seasons ahead.
